History

Labour Friends of Poland has been founded in October 2013 as a grassroots mass membership organisation of Labour Party members and supporters.

The idea of reaching out to Polish voters and engaging them with the Labour Party is not new; there was a Labour Friends of Poland group set up by three Labour MPs with the idea of making it a parliamentary group before the general elections in 2010, however it has never grew and it has became inactive shortly after the general elections.

However the need to engage with the Labour Party the growing and increasingly politically aware and active Polish community has been pressing, especially during strong voter mobilisation campaigns being conducted nationally which target Polish voters.

In October 2013 Ella Vine came together with two other founder members of the new Labour Friends of Poland, to form this membership organisation. Within a few months the Steering Committee has grown as has the membership of Labour Friends of Poland, which is steadily growing.
